Just for fun (Joke Event Idea)
Me and Glucia Grave thought of an idea for a humorous event. Keep in mind that this shouldn't be taken seriously, I just wanted to see what people outside my guild thought of it. The subject has been coming up ever since the Xunlai Chest where made to be Level 24. The layout of the event is very similar to the final day of the Dragon Festival.
The Xunlai Chests of Death
Some sort of evil force has caused all the Xunlai chests of a outpost to become sentient and hungry for hero flesh!
At the beginning of every hour all of the Xunlai chests in an outpost go crazy and start eating people. A countdown appears and several objects appear within the outpost. The chests will return to normal when one of two conditions are met.
1. The counter reaches 0
2. The players take enough of the objects to an NPC.
If the players bring enough of the object to the NPC, the players will receive a special item(s).
NOTES:
While chasing players, the chests make a Pac-Man WAKKA WAKKA sound effect.
When players are killed by a chest, they are respawned 10 seconds later at a random point in the outpost.
EDIT:Only players carrying an object will be targeted by chests.
(Now that I think about it, its almost identical to the final day of the Dragon Festival, except for the whole chests eating people part)

And when you kill them you get a special drop?

That would work perfectly with the overall concept, it's just I like the idea of zoning into a town and seeing people being chased by chests.

Yeah watching people being chased by chests is great!
But it would be even greater for people in trades being killed!

I was thinking of people being attacked in the same way as the Dragon Festival. You aren't vulnerable unless you are carrying one of the items.

Im haven't been to that so i don't know what it's about.
But still the chest can't just walk through people and they are left unharmed!
Where's the fun in that?

The final day of the Dragon Festival you have to run around and collect celestial essence (I believe thats what it was called) and bring them to an NPC. Everytime a person carrying an essence was killed, the score for the enemy would go up, and everytime a player got an essence to the NPC, the players score would go up. At the end of the time limit whichever side had the most points won.
This event would work in a similar way, the only difference being that you have to reach a certain number of items collected in a limited amount of time. The number of items needed could be based on the amount of people in the District at the time the chests come to life.
The chests don't pass through people, they go after the ones with the items. So if you are playing, you will chased by a chest. That way, anyone who doesn't want to participate doesn't have to worry about being eaten by the chests.

Souns better for the Plot of a quest than anything else.
We know that some items are too dangeroues to be stored in a Xunlai Chest, like dragon eggs.
There could be a quest where you have to walk to all outpsots with Chests and fix each chest by defeating something.

Fun for the people participating, not so much the ones that just want to trade or get quests.

The quest idea would be great to have alongside the event going on inside the outposts...but by itself I think it deviates too much from the original concept.

As cool as it would be to have Anet actually do this...I don't think I'm quite ready to form an assault team just to have them do it.
We'll keep it as a backup though.
